We saw this man chopping down a field of wild dasheen, or callilou, with his sickle and we simply couldn't resist the picture. It took him all day, but he had to feel a sense of joy and satisfaction when he had completed the task.
"For behold, the field is white already to harvest; and lo, he that thrusteth in his sickle......"
We sure feel like we're are rubbing shoulders with the salt of the earth as these young Elders and Sisters thrust in their sickles with their might. We are so grateful to parents who have taught their children so well and prepared them to go out into the world and share the Gospel. How blessed we feel that they include us in some of their teaching efforts.

Teaching Matthew and Michelle Andrews family with Sisters Grigg and Taylor. Kent and I were able to meet with this family twice and teach them about baptism and Temple blessings as families. Very often the teaching takes place outside the home because there aren't places to sit inside. This family is so much fun to teach because there are always geese and dogs wandering around the yard, but the family stays focused.
The last time we met with the Andrews family the kids were singing some church songs. There were teenage boys playing soccer in the road, but when they heard the singing, they came right over and joined with us. There are six people in the family , but that night we taught far more than that. At one point, there were 12 people there. Music is powerful and brings a wonderful spirit.
Elder Grange and Bro. Phillips (counselor in the Sangre Grande Ward) baptised Matthew, Michelle, Akeela, Brittney and Whitney Andrews on Oct 5, 2013. Dave is 7, but will be baptised when he turns 8. Matthew will be able to baptise Dave.

Then the missionaries from our district all came over to our apartment for food and General Conference. It was so nice to have them all with us in our "home"
The Sisters ended up spending the night in "Blue Heaven" with us instead of going back to Sangre Grande. They watched General Conference with us on Sunday and ate dinner with all the "old folks". Since they didn't bring extra clothing, they borrowed some of mine. We played dress up. I felt like I was back with my pageant gals. So fun!
Our district grew from 12 to 14 to 16 plus us. Last week, we actually had 17 youngsters, but one was transferred out.

We went to another baptism on Oct. 12. Elder Hatch from Port of Spain baptised 4 people from 2 different families. Elder Brown also taught these families. He was Elder Chase Larsen's companion in the MTC
The afternoon of Oct 12th, after the baptisms, we went on a hot hike through the bamboo forest. It was beautiful.
As Senior missionaries, we spend much of our time making sure that the young missionaries have what they need and stay well. On this P-Day we spent the day carting missionaries to and from the grocery store. We also purchased new pillows and other necessary items like pizza....huh!!??!!
After a "rough" 2 1/2 months in Trinidad, the Seniors decided to take a little time off for rest and relaxation in Tobago. Of course, it's the rainy season, but we went anyway. It poured all the first day. Good thing that the airlines provided these cute little raincoats. Who knew?

And a parking lot full of very old and colorful "mini's". Took Kent back to his days in jolly old England on his first mission. Made him smile!
