Smith's Situation: BECOME A STAR THROWER

There are tens of thousands of good people who have quietly drifted away from activity in our church. Those who have strayed need a friend who cares enough to show them the way back.
There is a story about a man named Loren Eiseley who walked along a beach one afternoon and noticed a man gazing down in the sand at something. There, in a pool of sand and water was a starfish with arms stiffly reaching up to pull itself out of the hole. The man picked up the star and spun it far out into the sea, giving it a chance to live.

This man continued to pick up starfish on the beach, throwing them back into the sea. Eiseley thought that this was an effort in futility because the sea would just fling hundreds of them back onto the sand that night.

The next morning, Eiseley again went to the beach. Again, the star thrower was there. Eiseley silently picked up a still-living star, spinning it far out into the waves. Together, they flung and flung again while the great sea roared all around them. He wrote "They, alone and small in that immensity, hurled back the living stars." They set their shoulders and "cast slowly, deliberately, and well. The task was not to be assumed lightly." Each moment counted if they were to rescue the starfish that they sought to save.

We need star throwers---throwers with vision who are willing to save just one soul....because to save that one will mean everything to that one life.

Be a star thrower! Then you may better understand the Lord's commandment to love thy neighbor as thyself.

On Monday, President and Sister Mehr came to Grenada for 6 hours to train and interview! How blessed we are to have such faithful leaders!
